Pink Butterfly First Birthday Party

Our baby girl turned one year old on December 9. We threw her first birthday “pink butterfly” party on Saturday afternoon. It was a simple party having only three menus with some cakes, cupcakes and cake pops. We had several menus planned to cook but decided to cook only three since we learned a day before that some guests we invited cannot come. We had a food budget for at least 30 people. But so many didn’t come. It ended up only a few who came. Less than 15 people so there were so many leftovers. Most of them only drink coffee and eat little. It’s so different here. In the Philippines when you throw a party there should be lots of food for everyone. But here, they just eat little and drink coffee. I was so worried about the leftovers.

We planned the party so early. It’s the first birthday so I was very excited for my baby girl. I wanted to prepare things on my own and decided to make all the decorations on my own. Well, there’s isn’t that much bling, anyway. I made the birthday banner, cupcakes stand, cupcakes toppings, glass, etc. The theme was a butterfly, so I made butterfly designs in uniform. I also made her birthday cake which was almost failed. It was the last minute when I decorated it. It looks better after but at first, it was a disaster. But I didn’t give up because I really wanted to make my baby girl’s cake. The cake was really messy. Shame on me!!! The DIY glasses and DIY cupcake stand were made of Rianna’s empty food jar. I kept all the mason jars since she started eating solids. I’m glad I did because the deco looks great. My friend helped me cook and prepare. Hubby did the balloons and put the birthday banner up.

The party was great. It was fun and successful. Rianna enjoyed her big day. And she has a lot of birthday presents. We are so grateful to all our friends and relatives who came. They are very supportive. A great day indeed. Thank you, God, for all the blessings. Rianna is such an angel to us and we love her so much!

(I am going to share all the DIYs soon as I can. )

  1. Invite me! We’d be happy to come and eat some of that wonderful food. Everything looks delicious. My baby girl turned 1 on Dec 9 and we didn’t do anything nearly as extravagant. I love the wings. We bought wings for B for Halloween and she refused to wear them. My son occasionally puts them on her and she fights to have them on.

    Beautiful party!
