Santa’s Visit On Christmas Eve!

Every kids in Finland expects Santa’s visit every Christmas, especially on Christmas eve. Santa lives in Lapland and of course, we are the first ones he will come to visit. It’s part of the Finnish Christmas traditions. On my first Christmas here I saw how kids got excited to hear a knock on the door and the Santa’s arrival. You can see how excited they were. I really thought it wasn’t good. Because oh well, how could you lie to your kids like that? But now that I have a child of my own, I realized it’s something that a big thing for your child on Christmas. Something they can look forward to every year, every Christmas day. Rianna was afraid of Santa Claus when she was little. She still now, but I can see that she understood little who Santa is and what he does on Christmas. I was looking forward to Santa’s visit as well. I was excited to see Rianna’s reaction.

And, of course on Christmas Eve we had a special visitor. Santa Claus and his helper came and brought a lot of Christmas presents. When we heard the knock, Rianna was surprised and thought it was his big brother. When Santa came inside, Rianna was afraid at first running back to the living room. Her reaction was priceless but also very funny. She didn’t want to sit beside Santa

and she wanted to hide. But as soon as Santa started to give her the presents, Rianna accepted it without fear. I couldn’t stop laughing. I think she really understood what gifts are. It was so nice to see her happy and excited to open her presents. She likes the sled and the guitar. I can say it was a success. Looking forward to next year.

Below, I included a short video of Santa’s visit to our house on Christmas eve. It was a little dark, but I love it. Rianna was really funny. It was the time worth remembering. Did Santa visit your home last Christmas too?
